Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I access Learning Builder?
LearningBuilder utilizes Single Sign-On (SSO) to provide seamless access from the ASHI website to the ACHI Certification, ASHI Proficiency Testing, ASHI University, and ASHI Accreditation programs - all conveniently hosted on the LearningBuilder platform. You must use your paid ASHI membership or complimentary Friends of ASHI (FOA) membership log-in credentials to access the ACHI certification portal in LearningBuilder. Please click here to sign up for a new member account, or to learn more about ASHI membership categories. For general assistance with ASHI membership, including retrieving your username and password or restoring your lapsed ASHI member account, please email [email protected].

What is a learning plan?
A learning plan refers to your personal record within the LearningBuilder platform. It functions like a digital application or portfolio where you can enter, track, and accumulate your continuing education (CE) credits over time.

How many credits do I have?
You can track your progress toward completing your three-year certification cycle by reviewing your learning plan in LearningBuilder. Your current learning plan provides a clear summary of the CE credits you’ve earned, the number still required, and the deadline by which they must be completed.

Can I add credits to my learning plan at any time, or just my recertification year?
You can add credits to your learning plan at any time during your 3-year certification period.

Do I have to pay annual fees?
Yes, ACHI annual certification fees are completely separate from ASHI membership dues. ACHI annual fees can be paid anytime during the year in LearningBuilder.

If I pay ASHI member dues, do I still have to pay my annual certification fees?
Yes, ASHI membership dues are separate from your ACHI certification fees. ASHI Membership dues grant you access to ASHI's e-newsletters & journals, the educational platform ASHI-U, discounts to ASHI Meetings, and other member benefits. ACHI certification fees allow you to maintain your deemed certification status.

How can I update my learning plan?
To update your learning plan, log into LearningBuilder and select “My Learning Plan.” To add a new activity, click the blue “Add Activity” button corresponding to the appropriate activity type. If you have multiple documents for a single activity, please combine them into one merged or zipped file before uploading. If you need assistance during the upload process, click the “?” icon for step-by-step instructions.

How long do I have to keep certificates of attendance on file?
Certificants must maintain all certificates of attendance, transcripts, or other proof of completion of activities for 3 years.

If I hold dual certification (i.e. CHT and CHS) do I have to pay and renew for both?
No, you only have to pay and renew once for the higher level of certification.

What do I do if I have been audited?
When an individual submits activities for approval, their learning plan may be randomly selected for an ACHI-conducted audit. If your learning plan is selected for audit, you will receive an email that advises you of your audit status. Once you receive the audit message, you can check your learning plan to determine what activities may need further documentation.
